About this calculator

Enter your Monthly Budget title at the top, then fill in whatever expense categories apply to you across the fourteen built-in rows — House utilities/bills, House rent, Groceries, Debt/loan EMI, Transportation, Medical, Entertainment, Shopping, Personal care/fitness, Education, Insurance, Savings and investments, Travel, and Emergency fund. Leave anything that doesn't apply at 0. On the income side, enter your Primary income and, if you have one, a Secondary income. Totals update live as you type, with no calculate button to press and nothing to configure before you start.

Adding more categories

If the built-in list doesn't cover everything you need, use "Add more categories" under Expenses or "Add more sources" under Income. Each click adds three new rows at once, each with an editable name field capped at 31 characters, so labels stay readable in both the on-screen table and the downloaded report. You can do this up to ten times on either table, giving you up to 30 additional rows beyond the built-in categories if your situation genuinely needs that many.

Net savings and net deficit

The card at the bottom of the tool shows one of two things depending on your numbers: Net savings, when your income covers your expenses with something left over, or Net deficit, when expenses exceed income. The label switches automatically — you don't need to interpret a negative number yourself, and the amount shown is always positive regardless of which direction it goes, so what changes is the word above it, not the sign in front of the figure.

Worked example

ExpenseAmount
House rent15,000
Groceries6,000
Transportation2,500
Insurance1,200
Entertainment1,800
Total expenses26,500
IncomeAmount
Primary income35,000
Secondary income4,000
Total income39,000

Result: Net savings: 12,500

In this example, five expense categories were filled in and the rest left at 0, which is exactly how the tool is meant to be used — only enter what actually applies to you. The total expenses figure (26,500) is simply the sum of every filled-in row, and the same is true for total income (39,000). Subtracting one from the other gives 12,500, and because income is larger, the result reads as Net savings rather than Net deficit.

A second example, showing a deficit

ExpenseAmount
House rent20,000
Debt/loan EMI12,000
Groceries7,000
Medical5,000
Shopping4,000
Total expenses48,000
IncomeAmount
Primary income40,000
Total income40,000

Result: Net deficit: 8,000

Here, a single EMI and a higher rent push total expenses above the single income entered, and the tool correctly flips the label to Net deficit while still showing 8,000 as a plain, positive figure — the shortfall, not a negative number to interpret.

Copy, download and share

Copy result places a properly formatted table onto your clipboard — pasting it into Word, Gmail, or Google Docs shows an actual aligned table with your categories and amounts, not a wall of plain text, and a plain-text version is included automatically for anywhere that doesn't accept rich formatting, such as a text message. Download report saves a separate, nicely formatted HTML file you can keep, print, or send as an attachment, generated entirely in your browser, with nothing passing through any server. Share hands that same report file straight to your device's own share sheet — on a phone this means it can go directly into WhatsApp, Gmail, or any other app you pick, without downloading it first. It only appears where your browser supports it; where it doesn't, use Download instead. Download CSV saves the same figures as a spreadsheet-ready file, and Print opens your browser's own print dialog with the same report — both are created in your browser, with nothing sent anywhere.

Choosing a title

The field at the top shows "Monthly Budget" as a placeholder — click it and type your own title, such as the month and year, or a specific purpose like "Rent negotiation planning." Whatever you type becomes the heading on both the copied table and the downloaded report, making it easy to tell multiple saved reports apart later if you build one every month.

Nothing you enter is saved between visits — refreshing the page resets the calculator completely, and no data is ever transmitted anywhere. Every number, and any custom category name you type, stays local to your own browser the entire time.
