Features

Write & edit like a pro

Full word-processor editing — bold, italic, underline, headings, fonts, sizes, lists, alignment and images. Your document flows across A4 pages automatically as you type, with page numbers at the bottom of each page and a live page counter in the footer. Press Enter and the text moves naturally to the next page.

Research without losing your thought

The built-in browser sits right next to your writing, in the same Chrome tab. Browse Google or many other websites, run a live search on the browsing screen, and keep writing — no more tab switching. Session browsing keeps your place while you work.

Two editors and a browser, side by side

Use one editor, two editors, or two editors with the browser:

  • Editor 1 with the browsing screen, and a button above Editor 1 to open Editor 2.
  • Editor 1 and Editor 2 together — for example, write rough notes in one and create the final draft in the other.
  • Editor 1, Editor 2 and the browsing screen all at once, for full multitasking.
  • Expand any editor or the browser to full width for focused work — one click to expand, one click to return.

Voice to text, in 28+ languages

Click the mic button in the editor and choose your language from the dropdown. Your words are transcribed instantly in native script — including Japanese, Spanish, English, Hindi, Chinese, French, German, Arabic, Russian, Korean, Tamil, Telugu and more. No language packs and no special setup. Optionally dictate, then edit using your keyboard or your voice.

Write and dictate in color

Pick any text color and every character you type or speak appears in that color — speak in red, blue, green or any color you like.

Find & Replace in multiple languages

Find & Replace works across all languages. Type your search term directly, paste text copied from anywhere in the editor, or speak it using voice typing with your active microphone language. Replace one match at a time, or replace all at once, instantly.

Read Aloud

Listen back to your document. Read Aloud has its own language selector, completely independent of voice input — pick your language and press play, with speed control from 0.5x to 2x.

Read Mode

A distraction-free, full screen reading view with a two-page spread and font size controls.

Saving, exporting and reopening

  • Save your document under any file name you choose before it downloads.
  • Download as an HTML file or a PDF, with images included, or print directly.
  • Only HTML files can be reopened in the editor for further editing. Open a previously saved WordX file and all pages are restored exactly as you left them.
  • Choosing “New” discards the last open file.
  • During a session, files are kept locally in Chrome storage, but if you exit without saving they may be deleted. Save before you close.

Who it is for

  • A student writing an essay while researching — no tab switching, no losing focus.
  • A professional drafting a report while referring to several websites at once.
  • Anyone writing in more than one language — students, journalists and writers — with voice typing, Read Aloud and keyboard editing together.

Private by design

Your documents stay 100% private — saved only on your device, never uploaded anywhere.

Good to know

Gmail does not open inside the built-in browser, and some other sites may not open either.
